A free Heyzine alternative

Heyzine is a polished flipbook maker with a friendly free tier. If its five-flipbook cap or the logo in the viewer is the problem, here's how Toombler differs.

A free Heyzine alternative

The short answer: Toombler is a free alternative to Heyzine with no flipbook limit, no page limit and no logo in the viewer. Your PDF stays in your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive instead of being uploaded, and the flipbook updates itself when you edit that file. The trade-off: Heyzine has an editor with interactive elements and reader statistics, and Toombler shows one advertisement on the inside cover.

What Heyzine is

Heyzine turns PDFs into page-flip publications hosted on its own platform. It has a genuinely good editor, interactive elements you can layer on top of pages, custom domains on higher tiers, and reader statistics from the Professional plan. Its free tier is more generous than most, which is why it shows up so often in "best free flipbook maker" lists.

When Heyzine is the better choice

If you want to add interactive elements on top of your pages, need detailed reader analytics, want a custom domain, or simply prefer an ad-free viewer and are happy to pay a few euros a month, Heyzine gives you more than Toombler does. It is a more feature-rich product, and honestly so.

When Toombler is the better choice

Pick Toombler if you publish regularly and the five-flipbook cap is in your way, if you don't want any third-party logo on your publication, or if you'd rather keep the PDF in your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. It also has an official WordPress plugin, PIN protection, expiry dates and a QR code per flipbook — all free.

Moving a flipbook across

There is nothing to export. Take the same PDF you uploaded to Heyzine, put it in Google Drive, share it with "Anyone with the link", and paste that link into Toombler. Then swap the embed code on your site. See the two-minute guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to Heyzine without a flipbook limit?
Yes. Toombler is free with no cap on the number of flipbooks and no page limit, and it shows no logo in the viewer. It is funded by a single advertisement on the inside cover of each flipbook.

Does Toombler remove the Heyzine logo?
Toombler is a separate tool, so there is no Heyzine branding at all. Toombler adds no watermark or logo over your pages.

Which is more generous on the free plan?
Toombler allows unlimited flipbooks; Heyzine's free plan caps you at five but shows no advertisement. Which is better depends on whether you mind the cap or the ad.

Does Heyzine host my file like Toombler does?
No. Heyzine hosts your document on its own servers. Toombler reads the PDF from your own storage via a share link and never stores a copy.
